Meet the Speakers

Ashley Caudill

Human Resources Supervisor - JBM Packaging

JBM Packaging is a provider of eco-friendly, high-performing flexible packaging solutions and filling services based in Lebanon, Ohio. Ashley joined JBM in 2016 and was a key figure in the development of the company’s Fair Chance Program, helping not only build the program’s framework but also drive internal buy-in among other JBM staff members. From JBM’s first hire in Oct. 2016, the number of Fair Chance employees has grown to almost one-quarter of its entire workforce. JBM is currently engaged with more than 30 correctional and workforce development partners, including halfway houses, correctional institutions, and programming facilities, and sober living homes.

Ashley will discuss how Second Chance hiring can help alleviate labor challenges while improving our communities. Using JBM’s journey as a reference, she’ll highlight common challenges organizations might experience in developing their own Second Chance program and tips for avoiding them.

Executive Director - CIRI & President of Downey's Carpet Care

John Downey is a fourth-generation carpet cleaner and veteran of more than 45 years in the cleaning industry. 

Downey first gained notoriety as the founder, editor, and publisher of Cleanfax magazine from 1989 until he sold Cleanfax in 1997. He continued as editor of Cleanfax until 2000. From 2000 until 2005 he worked with his brother Mike to develop a nationwide distribution system for the Steamin Demon, a high-flow-extraction-based cleaning system that Mike invented in the latter 1990s.

More recently Downey again turned his attention to publishing. He established The Journal of Cleaning, Restoration & Inspection for the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) in 2014 and Cleaning Science Quarterly for CIRI in 2018.

Downey lives in Pataskala, Ohio with his wife of more than 40 years, Cecilia. They have nine children and 15 grandchildren.

Daniela has 20 years of experience in HR. She joined Emerson Automation Solutions in Dec 2012 as HR Manager and had a progressive career with increasing responsibilities over the years in Brazil, including assuming Marketing Communication and Educational Services.

In 2018 she was transferred from Brazil to Florida as a Director of Human Resources in Latina America, overseeing People & Culture Management across 8 countries where Emerson operates the region.

Last year she got promoted to VP of Human Resources for Tool Company Latin America. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, a master’s degree in business administration from Fundacao Getulio Vargas Sao Paulo, and coach certification by Gallup Institute.
